American Idol contestant Paul Mcdonald emerged as the competition's new frontrunner after gaining high praise from the judges on last night's show (9th March 2011).
American Idol's Paul Mcdonald has established himself as the surprise package on this year's show and gained plaudits for his unique rendition of a Ryan Adams song during yesterday's live round, reports the UK's Daily Mail.Mcdonald sang Adams' 'Come Pick Me Up', and demonstrated a unique vocal quality that the judges were quick to praise. Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler commented, "I love the character and rasp in your voice. I love your voice". Jennifer Lopez went further, saying, "You're just so unique, there's just something about you. Elsewhere on yesterday's show, Pia Toscano chose to sing Eric Carmen's 'All by Myself' and dedicated the performance to her father. The judges were unanimous in their praise and she is expected to make it comfortably through to the next round.
It was recently reported that Lady GaGa will perform a set during the American Idol season 10 finale on 19th March 2011. The singer will release her highly anticipated new album 'Born This Way' on 23rd May 2011.
