Tragic Amy Winehouse has joined the Forever 27 Club of influential stars who died at 27.
Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and Rolling Stones star Brian Jones are the most high-profile members of the group of celebrities who died before reaching their 28th birthday.
The British singer was found dead at her home in north London on Saturday afternoon (23Jan11). Reports suggest she died of a drug overdose.
Winehouse would have turned 28 in September (11).
Singer/songwriter Billy Bragg has made the age connection in a tweet sent out to his fans.
He writes, "It's not age that Hendrix, Jones, Joplin, Morrison, Cobain & Amy have in common - it's drug abuse, sadly."
Other musicians who are members of the Forever 27 Club include blues legend Robert Johnson, The Drifters frontman Rudy Lewis, British rock 'n' roll star DICkie Pride, Canned Heat singer/songwriter Alan Wilson, Grateful Dead founder Ron 'Pigpen' MCKernan, Badfinger star Pete Ham, Echo & The Bunnymen drummer Pete de Freitas and Uriah Heep bassist Gary Thain.
