Producers of the MTV Video Music Awards are hoping Amy Winehouse's parents accept their invitation to attend the show in Los Angeles on Sunday (28Aug11) - for what is expected to be an emotional tribute to the late singer.
Tony Bennett will take to the VMAs stage for the first time since the early 1990s to honour the tragic Rehab hitmaker, who died last month (Jul11). He will introduce a tribute to Winehouse.
And her parents, Mitch and Janis, have been invited to attend the ceremony as Mtv special guests.
Executive producer Dave Sirulnick tells Eonline.com, "We're still working on it. Some pieces are still coming together."
The tribute will feature never-before-seen footage of Bennett and Winehouse recording Body and Soul for his upcoming Duets II album at London's Abbey Road Studios.
