Anderson Cooper could take over from Oprah Winfrey as the new face of daytime television.Winfrey is bringing to an end her talk show that first debuted in 1986, leaving a gap in the schedules for someone to fill. Time Warner announced yesterday (Thursday 30th September 2010) that Cooper, currently an anchor on CNN, will launch a new daytime talk show set to begin in the fall of 2011.
'The Oprah Winfrey Show' is set to air its final show in September 9th next year, therefore Cooper's show will naturally fill the void left by the queen of the daytime television. It is reported that the new show will feature traditional daytime staples such as celebrity interviews, but will also work in a harder more investigative style of reporting. Cooper also looks set to continue his job at CNN.
43-year-old Cooper is an Emmy Award winning newsman, perhaps best known for his on-scene reports and vivid descriptive talents. Salon.com describe his current show 'Anderson Cooper 360' as "one of the most comprehensive and well-respected programs on the sinking ship that is CNN". He began his broadcasting career as a correspondent for ABC News, before eventually rising to the position of co-anchor on the overnight 'World News Now' program.
