Anderson In University Publishing Clash

Editors of a student magazine in Texas want to make amends with Wes Anderson after they published one of the director's early stories without permission.
The Royal Tenenbaums filmmaker wrote the Ballad of Reading Milton while he was an undergraduate at the University of Texas and it ran in the college's literature magazine, Analecta, in 1989.
But Anderson was stunned when the short story was posted online by Analecta journalists last week (ends17Oct10), telling the New York Daily News the development was "very disturbing" and questioning if they had the rights to his work.
Analecta editor Mia Avramescu has now promised to take down the piece, insisting they didn't expect it "to get attention outside the UT literary community".
Avramescu adds, "We did not intend to embarrass Mr. Anderson. As an undergraduate myself, I can vouch that his story is a great piece of student writing!"
