An iconic Andy Warhol portrait of Blondie star Debbie Harry is expected to fetch up to $8.8 million (£5.5 million) when it goes up for auction later this month (Jun11).
The Heart of Glass singer posed for Warhol in his New York studio, The Factory, back in 1980 and now one of the colourful silkscreen prints is set to go under the hammer at Sotheby's auction house in London as part of a two-day sale of contemporary art.
Harry recently admitted she was delighted to become one of Warhol's muses, stating, "I was thrilled when he wanted to do a portrait of me. It put me in good company with tins of Campbell's Soup, Elizabeth Taylor and Liza Minnelli."
Former Eurythmics rocker Dave Stewart is also using the Sotheby's event to offload some works from his personal art collection, including a spot painting by Damien Hirst, entitled Dantrolene (Being God for Dave), which the renowned artist dedicated to the musician early on in his career.
That piece is expected to fetch $1.28 million (£800,000) at auction when the sale takes place on 29 and 30 June (11).
