Annie Ilonzeh, the American actress best known for her role as 'Maya Ward' on the long running medical drama 'General Hospital', has been cast as one of the three leads in ABC's forthcoming 'Charlie's Angels' series, according to the UK's Daily Mail. The new project, which is being created by Drew Barrymore's 'Flower Films' and Sony Pictures TV, is scheduled to premiere sometime in 2011 and filming on a pilot episode is set to begin soon.
The show is being described as a modern take on the well-known 'Angels' story of three young woman working for a mystery man. The updated version will feature a new trio of lead characters, 'Kate', 'Abby' and 'Marisa', and the show will be based in Miami. 27-year-old Ilonzeh is set to play 'Kate', a smart and athletic ex-policewoman who is a master of martial arts and described as being "the most serious.but also knows how to let her hair down and have a great time". As well as appearing on 'General Hospital', Ilonzeh has also starred in a number of feature films including 'Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief'.
Although the two other lead roles are yet to cast, it was previously confirmed that the 'Hart To Hart' actor Robert Wagner will be voicing the character of 'Charlie'.
