Annie Lennox - Annie Lennox Launches Retrospective On Same Day As David Bowie
Annie Lennox is set to go head-to-head with David Bowie by launching her own career retrospective in her native Scotland this weekend (23Mar13).
Bowie's exhibition at London's Victoria and Albert Museum has been big news, attracting a star-studded crowd at a preview on Wednesday night (20Mar13) and shifting over 50,000 advance tickets ahead of its official opening on Saturday.
Lennox has also teamed up with curators at the museum to create a collection which celebrates her own stellar career, which will launch on the same day (23Mar13).
The House of Annie Lennox display has been created in partnership with experts at the Victoria and Albert Museum, but it will be held at The Scottish National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh.
Items on display include costumes she has worn in videos and on-stage during her time with the Eurythmics and as a solo artist, as well as photographic portraits.
A statement from Lennox reads, "It's an incredible honour and privilege to have been given an opportunity to share and display aspects of my life's work at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery. It has given me a tremendous sense of validation, and in doing so, brings a certain personal cycle to a place of arrival and completion. I hope that people will enjoy the exhibition, and garner a sense of whatever it is that's driven and inspired me."
The exhibition will run until 30 June (13).
