Ashton Kutcher - Ashton Kutcher Learned 'Great Lesson' From Joe Paterno Tweet Uproar
Ashton Kutcher has learned a "great lesson for life" after he came under fire for defending ousted U.S. college football coach Joe Paterno on Twitter.com last year (11).
The Two and a Half Men star sparked outrage when he slammed education officials for sacking the Pennsylvania State University football team head coach. Paterno was accused of failing to take action against assistant Jerry Sandusky, who has been charged with molesting young boys over a 15-year period.
After the public backlash, Kutcher apologised and removed himself from Twitter, before reinstating his account and handing control of his profile over to his management team.
And the star admits the scandal has made him more aware of the consequence of public statements, insisting he now learns the full facts before blurting out his thoughts online.
He says, "I think the biggest thing is it's a real-time service - the impulse is to sort of stay ahead of the curve and know what's going on.
"I just take that extra pause now and make sure I'm fully educated about what I'm talking about and just not to get that sort of impulse feedback, which I think is the biggest thing.
"It is a great lesson for life too, taking that pause before you do and act and being sure what you're doing is what you want to be doing."
