Band Aid 20 Is Best-selling Christmas Single
The revamped Band Aid single has been named the best-selling U.K. Christmas single of the last decade.
Do They Know It's Christmas was written by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure and originally recorded in 1984 with stars including Sting, Bono and George Michael.
The song was re-recorded by a fresh group of artists, known as Band Aid 20, in 2004 to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the original recording.
And now the Band Aid 20 version has topped a sales list of Christmas singles in Britain since 2000.
The Darkness' 2003 hit Christmas Time (Don't Let The Bells End) claimed second place in the list by the Official Charts Company, while The Pogues' 1987 hit Fairytale of New York - re-released every year since 2005 - is at number three.
Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas Is You and Proper Crimbo from comedy TV show Bo'Selecta come in at number four and five respectively.
The Official Charts Company also released a chart of best-selling Christmas carols, based on digital downloads. O Holy Night came out at number one ahead of Silent Night and Once In Royal David's City.
