Benedict Cumberbatch has found the cast of 'Star Trek 2' ''very welcoming''.

The British actor - who plays an unknown role in the J.J. Abrams-directed sequel - admits he has been having a great time on the movie and is particularly enjoying working with Zachary Quinto, who plays Spock.

He told MTV News: ''It's just good fun. It's great to work with Chris. He's very professional. So is Zach Quinto, who I've been working with a lot; I adore him, he's a brilliant, brilliant guy.

''It's in a weird way a very easy thing to get up to speed with, because everybody is so welcoming and gets along with one another.''

Recently video was released showing Benedict's character in a fight with Spock on a ''barge scene'' being filmed in front of a green screen.

Although the context of the fight is not known, Uhura - played by Zoe Saldana - is seen to come in at an opportune moment with a phaser to protect her Vulcan ship-mate.

Benedict is one of a number of new stars joining the sci-fi series, including Alice Eve and Noel Clarke.
