Bette Midler is to star in 'Glee'.

The 'Wind Beneath My Wings' singer has agreed to film a cameo for the musical TV drama after being asked to by the show's co-creator Ryan Murphy.

Ryan asked Bette while she was on stage for the God's Love We Deliver Golden Hearts Awards event in New York City.

She tweeted: ''And from the stage, @ryanmurphy invited me to guest on @Glee! I should get out more.''

Ryan couldn't contain his excitement and also took to twitter to speak of his joy.

He wrote: ''Bette said yes! Amazing. I am plotting...who should she play?''

But it seems, Bette, 66, already has some ideas and thinks she could be the grandmother of Rachel Berry, who is played by Lea Michele.

She tweeted: ''I have one vote for Rachel's grandmother.''

Bette is not the only star to sign up for the show as 'American Idol' runner-up Jessica Sanchez will also have a recurring role.

However, character details and a start date are yet to be revealed.

Stars to have appeared in 'Glee' include Gwyneth Paltrow, Britney Spears, Kate Hudson and Sarah Jessica Parker.
