Happy Mondays dancer Bez pulled out of the cult band's upcoming reunion tour because years of bouncing around on stage has left him with a debilitating groin injury.
The percussionist ruled himself out of performing with the Step On hitmakers when they return to the road in May (12), insisting he's too old to reprise his onstage antics.
Now he's opened up about the health issue that prompted his decision and revealed he still plans to join the band on tour - to DJ before the show and introduce his pals onto the stage.
Bez, real name Mark Berry, tells Mojo magazine, "I'll be compering, do some DJing... It's me (my) whole pelvic-leg region that's given up the chase. I'm a 50-year-old man. The most I can do these days on a night out is wobble on the spot. Some things are best left to memories."
The British band split in 1993, and frontman Shaun Ryder announced the first full reunion of the original line-up earlier this year (12).
