Biffy Clyro have confirmed that the title for their sixth studio album will be 'Opposites', with the group's front man Simon Neil introducing the lead-off single from it on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 show last night (July 31st). A band known for their big sound, the boys seem to have taken that to every conclusion possible this time round, with the LP set to be released across two discs - the first being called 'The Land At The End Of Our Toes,' and the second 'The Sand At The Core Of Our Bones.'
"Each album is the exact opposite vibe to the other lyrically," Neil explained to Lowe when talking about the album's concept. "One's about putting things in the worst possible way and thinking you're getting yourself into a hole. The other looks at things more positively." Speaking from the band's Los Angeles studio, Neil went on to explain why they picked the track 'Stingin' Belle' to be the album's lead-off single. "It was one of the first songs that really clicked when we were recording it," he said. "We've been playing that one in the practice room for about a year or so. It shows how over the top the album is. Hopefully it shows that we're not putting limits on this record."
Fans will no doubt be celebrating the news of the new album, but they might also be a little worried by comments by Neil that suggested the release was "the end of an era". Continuing, he said "Anything we wanted to try we've been able to try. Hopefully we've mastered it on this record. I hope when people hear it they really love it. I think we've gone as far as we can."
