Troubled Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has a bizarre dream to record an album of Norwegian death metal tracks - at least that's what he reveals in a deleted clip from new movie comedy This Is 40.

Talking to Paul Rudd's record label boss character in the hilarious clip, the rocker explains he wants his new music to sound like a cross between death metal and Belle & Sebastian.

Armstrong, who is currently recovering from a stint in rehab, which forced Green Day to scrap a series of concerts and appearances at the end of last year (11), appears to be deadly serious about his new musical aspirations in the axed footage, which will appear in the Dvd release of the film.

He explains, "It's the sort of music you can cry to - but also burn a church down at the same time... I kinda want it to sound like two radios going off at the same time in a white supremacist's car."

But he tells Rudd's character he doesn't want to be associated with the music, adding, "I don't want my name to be anywhere near this thing. There's going to be so much violence."

And keeping a straight face, Armstrong then states, "My biggest frustration of my career is that I sell too many records."
