Rockers Green Day have fuelled rumours they will play a surprise set at Britain's upcoming Reading Festival after frontman Billie Joe Armstrong posted a cryptic message on Twitter.com.
Fans have been speculating about whether the American Idiot hitmakers, who are currently in the U.K. as part of their world tour, would make an unannounced appearance at the annual summer music event, and Armstrong appeared to confirm the suspicions when he took to the social networking site on Wednesday (22Aug12).
Teasing followers, he wrote, "Hello England! What rhymes with shredding??!!"
However, the tweet was hastily removed and organisers of this weekend's (24-26Aug12) Reading Festival, and its sister bash in Leeds, have yet to comment on the claims.
If the Green Day rumours are true, it will be their first appearance at the outdoor gig since headlining in 2004.
The Cure, Kasabian and the Foo Fighters will top the line-up at both the 2012 Reading and Leeds festivals, which take place simultaneously over three days.
