Mary J. Blige has urged any fans suffering personal issues to seek help, after she overcame her own alcohol and drug demons by talking through her problems.
The Family Affair singer has been open about her past, which saw her battle booze and substance abuse in the mid-1990s.
She managed to wean herself off drugs, only to be confronted with a dependency on alcohol - but managed to tackle her problems head-on with the help of others.
Blige is keen to use her fame to highlight addiction issues and she's urged others battling personal problems to seek advice and help.
She tells British morning show Daybreak, "When I saw myself drifting... I was like, 'Hey, hey, hey, wait!' I actually felt that. I thank God I got an opportunity to actually see myself drifting away and call on help. Everyone doesn't like to go to another human being, because they're ashamed, they're guilty... Why not ask someone for help? Why not pray and ask for someone to be sent in my life to guide me? We all need people."
