Blues great Hubert Sumlin has died of heart failure in New Jersey. He was 80.
The guitarist who famously collaborated with Howlin' Wolf on songs like Spoonful and Back Door Man, passed away on Sunday (04Dec11).
Nominated for four Grammy awards, he was ranked number 43 on Rolling Stone magazine’s recent list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time and he was inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame in 2008.
Sumlin, who was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2002, also performed with Muddy Waters.
