Recently reunited British Indie Rockers Blur are set to perform a live gig on BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music on July 31st at the BBC's historical Maida Vale studios.

The concert will air between 8pm and 9pm following a 4pm interview with 6 Music presenter Steve Lamacq. It will also be broadcast on the websites and listeners will get the chance to win tickets for the show. 'This year marks a huge milestone for Blur as a band', Radio 2/ 6 Music head of music Jeff Smith tells BBC News. 'The contribution they have made to the history of British music cannot be underestimated.'

Blur reformed in 2009 after a rather quiet break up which seemed to have begun between 2005 and 2007. In February this year, there was speculation that they were to record a new album, however recording was then stopped according to their producer William Orbit in an interview with NME. They have, however, released two new tracks at the beginning of this month entitled 'Puritan' and 'Under the Westway'. 2012 has also seen them being awarded their fifth Brit Award; this time for their Outstanding Contribution to Music. Previous Brit Awards include Best Band and Best Album, Best Single and Best British Video for their hit 'Parklife'.

The Britpop band will perform this August at Hyde Park in London as part of the closing ceremony for the Olympics. Performing alongside them include fellow Brits New Order and THE SPECIALS.
