Bob Dylan - Bob Dylan Reopens New York Theatre

Music legend Bob Dylan helped relaunch a New York theatre on Tuesday night (04Sep12), more than 30 years after the venue's rock 'n' roll heyday came to an end.
The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester was built as a music hall in the 1920s and became a popular venue throughout the '60s and '70s, hosting bands including Pink Floyd and the Grateful Dead, but it was shut in 1976 when local officials demanded an end to late night live entertainment.
It later became a home for plays and musicals before it was turned into a catering hall in the 1990s, but the new owners have now returned the theatre to its rock 'n' roll roots and Dylan was the act chosen to relaunch the venue.
The theatre's owner, Peter Shapiro, took to the stage before Dylan to thank fans who supported the effort to relaunch the venue, telling the crowd, "What a long, strange trip it's been," in reference to an album by the Grateful Dead.
Other acts booked to play at the relaunched theatre include Counting Crows, The Roots, Blondie and David Gray.
