Bono's voice "annoys" him.

The U2 frontman can't bring himself to listen to his group's earlier hits because he thinks he sounds "like a girl" when he sings on them.

He told TV talk show host Ellen Degeneres: "I do try to avoid it. If I hear our songs on the radio I tend to turn them down. Not because I don't like them or believe in them. Actually, my voice annoys me. I always think I could have sang it better.

"I am sort of a macho, Irish guy and particularly in those '80s songs, I think I sound like a girl."

Bono isn't the only star to admit to not enjoying their own music.

Beyonce Knowles has previously admitted she hates hearing her songs in nightclub because she finds it "awkward".

She explained: "The last thing I want to hear at a club is one of my own songs.

"I get so uncomfortable. It's that awkward moment when you know that everyone is watching you to see if you're gonna bust a move to your own song."

Despite virtually every track from his 1995 album 'Play' being used in advertisements, Moby has admitted he rarely listens to the songs because he finds them "obvious".

He has said: "I still don't like 'Play' that much. I listen to it and I'm like, 'Yeah, it's OK. Seems a little obvious in places.'"
