Former Culture Club singer Boy George chained a male escort to a wall after an argument about his computer, a court heard today.

The 80s pop star, 46, chained Audun Carlsen to a wall at his home in Shoreditch, east London, in April last year, Snaresbrook Crown Court heard.

Mr Carlsen, 29, and Boy George - real name George O'Dowd arranged to meet earlier this year after contacting each other on the social networking website Gaydar.

Mr Carlsen denies he was working as an escort and says he was paid by the singer to pose for photographs in January.

The two took cocaine and O'Dowd performed a sex act on the escort, the court heard.

Jurors heard today that Mr O'Dowd believed his personal computers had been interfered with and suspected Mr Carlsen of being involved.

However, they parted on good terms and the singer paid the younger man £300 of the £400 they had agreed.

The pair exchanged further emails - in which Mr O'Dowd accused Mr Carlsen of hacking into his computer - but eventually arranged a second meeting.

It was on this occasion that Mr Carlsen was 'ambushed' by the former pop star and another man, said Heather Norton, prosecuting.

"Two men grabbed Carlsen and forced him to the floor. O'Dowd produced a set of handcuffs. They placed one end on Carlsen's right wrist and the other end to a hook that was screwed to a fixture near the bed," she told the court.

"O'Dowd told the unidentified man to leave, which he did, then O'Dowd too left the room, leaving Carlsen alone, chained up. While he was unable to get loose, he managed to wrench the hook free."

The Norwegian said he had escaped by pulling the hook from the wall and fleeing to a nearby newsagents.

He told the Daily Mail newspaper after the April incident: "I was convinced I was going to die.

"George handcuffed me to a hook by the bed as they held me down."

Mr O'Dowd denies a charge of false imprisonment and the trial continues.

Two years ago Boy George was ordered to clean litter from the streets of Manhattan after New York police were called to his apartment to investigate reports of a burglary but found cocaine in his apartment.
