Singer Boy George was handed several free pairs of women's shoes from a British clothing chain this week (ends12May13) after complaining that a staffmember looked down on him for trying on high heels.

The Culture Club star was furious when an unnamed female worker at an Evans shop in London snubbed the star for trying on wedge shoes, so he took to his Twitter.com page on Wednesday (08May13) to report her actions.

He tweeted, "If the stroppy/unhelpful woman at Evans in Marble Arch thinks I'm going to take this lying down! Ha! I'm sure lots of geezers (men) buy women's shoes at Evans? Or is it just me in my beard trying on wedges that's so amusing?"

His rant caught the attention of executives at Evans, who promptly replied, "Boy George, we're very sorry to hear this. We'll be contacting our Marble Arch team about this matter. How can we help at all?"

The Brit requested three pairs of peep-toe sandals and the brand bosses were happy to oblige, writing, "Your replacement wedges should be with you soon George."

Boy George then posted, "Thank you very much! I will wear my Evans clothing shoes with major pride!"
