Superman Returns star Brandon Routh has welcomed into the world his first child with wife Courtney Ford, People have reported.
Leo James Routh was born on Friday (August 10th) weighing in at a health 8 pounds and measuring 20½ inches.
The pair, who wed back in 2007, confirmed the news that they were expecting their first child in March, with Routh telling People: "It's been so hard keeping the news to ourselves".
Courtney confessed to the magazine that she had been forced to lie about the pregnancy as she and husband Routh tried to keep things under wraps. She admitted that she was overjoyed when she could finally reveal the news to the her co-stars, adding that before she relied on "flu and food poisoning excuses," but they "only work for so long!"
Routh will be staring in a new show, Partners, this coming autumn, with the first episode premiering September 24 on American network CBS. Hopefully for him, he should be able to concentrate on his work with the joy of being a father beginning to subside by then.
Meanwhile, Ford will no doubt be taking a break from her appearances on the shows True Blood and Parenthood during their on-going series.
