Rocker BRET MICHAELS has been forced to axe his concert in New Jersey on Thursday (15Nov12) after discovering the venue was seriously damaged by superstorm Sandy.

The Poison frontman was due to take his Life Rocks Tour to the Paramount Theatre at Asbury Park this week, but the gig has now been scrapped as local officials struggle to rebuild and recover in the wake of the post-tropical cyclone, which wreaked havoc across America's East Coast late last month (Oct12).

Alerting fans to the cancellation on Twitter.com, Michaels writes, "Unfortunately, due to damage incurred as a result of Hurricane Sandy, the Paramount Theatre must cancel the Bret Michaels Performance scheduled for November 15, 2012.

"Tickets may be refunded at the point of purchase. We appreciate your understanding in this matter."
