Brian Wilson is working on a new solo album.

The Beach Boys singer has announced he is recording and self-producing his 11th studio album with Capitol Music Group at Ocean Way Studios in Hollywood after being inspired by his band's comeback album 'That's Why God Made The Radio' and reunion tour last year.

Speaking in a statement posted on his official website, Brian said: ''I was really moved by the fans' excitement about The Beach Boys' album and tour last year. It charged me up and my head was full of music - I just couldn't wait to get back into the studio to let it out.''

The 70-year-old musician has reigned in the help of guitar icon and good friend Jeff Beck for the record and he already can't wait to perform live with him when the material is finished.

He added: ''When I watched Jeff Beck perform 'Surf's Up' to honour me at the MusiCares Person of the Year event in 2005, I knew I had to find a way to work with him.

''He absolutely blew my mind and we've been friends ever since. Jeff's incredible guitar playing is exactly what I want for my new album and I'm also looking forward to performing live with him soon.''

Other names who have and are set to join Brian in the studio include his former bandmates Al Jardine and David Marks, along with members of his touring band Jeffrey Foskett, Scott Bennett, Paul Mertens, Darian Sahanaja, and Probyn Gregory.

This album will mark Brian's first set of new material since 2008's 'That Lucky Old Sun'.
