Veteran British actor Frank Thornton has died, aged 92.
The star, best known for his role as Captain Peacock in hit U.K. Tv sitcom Are You Being Served?, passed away in his sleep on Saturday (16Mar13), his agent David Daly confirms.
Daly tells the Bbc, "I have been Frank's agent since 1986 and he has been the most wonderful client as well as being a great friend. He will be sorely missed."
Thornton is survived by his wife of 67 years, Beryl, and daughter Jane, as well as three grandchildren.
In a career stretching back more than 60 years, the actor racked up credits in Tv shows including Last of the Summer Wine, Hancock's Half Hour, Love Thy Neighbour, Gosford Park, and Steptoe and Son. He also appeared in movies including Carry On Screaming! and Some Will, Some Won't.
