Jon Hamm may have thought he was making a throwaway comment about the current crop of reality stars during a recent interview with Elle magazine, but the Mad Men star may wish he hadn't mentioned Kim Kardashian, who has delivered a scathing riposte on her Twitter page.
In the original interview Hamm - best known for playing suave creative director Don Draper - slammed celebrity culture, saying, "We're at a place where the idea of being 'elite' is somehow considered negative.Whether it's Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian or whoever, stupidity is certainly celebrated. Being a f*cing idiot is a valuable commodity in this culture because you're rewarded significantly". Kardashian has built up a lucrative empire based around her E! show 'Keeping up with the Kardashians' and recent reports suggested Paris Hilton had made almost $1 billion from her various television shows and endorsements. Ever eager to defend her reputation, Kim took to Twitter to respond to Hamm's remarks, telling her followers, "I just heard about the comment Jon Hamm made about me in an interview. I respect Jon and I am a firm believer that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and that not everyone takes the same path in life. We're all working hard and we all have to respect one another. Calling someone who runs their own businesses, is a part of a successful TV show, produces, writes, designs, and creates, "stupid," is in my opinion careless". The Mad Men star is yet to respond to Kardashians comments.
