Late country legend Johnny Cash's little-known Scottish roots are to be revisited in an upcoming British radio documentary.
Johnny Cash Of Easter Cash will debut on BBC Radio 4 on Saturday (13Feb10) and chronicle the Man in Black's links to Falkland, Fife.
The country star taped a 1981 Christmas special in the village but little was known about Cash's links to the place - until now.
Apparently Cash discovered his ancestors were royal Scots, who had ties to Fife.
According to Spinner.com, Cash used three trips to the village to trace his ancestry back to the 12th century and discovered King Malcolm IV's surname was either Cash or Cashel. His niece reportedly wed the Earl of Fife and, later on in history, the family moved to America in the 17th century.
Falkland villagers agreed to recount their meetings with Cash for the documentary, which also features the singer/songwriter's daughter Rosanne.
