Cate Blanchett Opens Cannes Film Festival
Cate Blanchett and Russell Crowe have bought Hollywood glamour to the south of France for the opening of the Cannes Film Festival.
The Australian actors - who star in the festival's opening movie 'Robin Hood' - have arrived at the famous Mediterranean resort to promote their film, which goes on general release this week.
This year's Palme d'Or prize features two British directors Mike Leigh - who picked up the award for 1996 film 'Secrets and Lies' and Ken Roach, as well as 17 other movies.
Tim Burton is leading this year's jury for the prize, which also features films from Mexico's Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu and South Korean's Lee Chang-dong.
The winner of the Palme d'Or prize will be announced on May 23, the final day of the festival.
