Catherine Zeta Jones - Catherine Zeta-jones Joins Rock Of Ages
Catherine Zeta-Jones has won a role in musical 'Rock of Ages', with director Adam Shankman confirming she will play a villainous ''arch-conservative'' who wants to shut down all music in Los Angeles.
Catherine Zeta-Jones has been cast as a villainous "arch conservative" in 'Rock of Ages'.
The Welsh actress - who recently underwent treatment for Bipolar II disorder, also known as manic depression - will play an evil character who wants to close down "rock and roll in Los Angeles", director Adam Shankman has confirmed.
He said: "It's a character that we only really came to in the last month. The character was invented to streamline the stories.
"She is this hardcore, moral majority, arch-conservative who wants to shut down rock 'n roll in the great city of Los Angeles."
The movie is based on the Broadway musical of the same name, and has already cast Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin and Mary J. Blige, but Adam confesses he is particularly pleased to sign up Catherine - who previously won an Oscar for her role in musical movie 'Chicago'.
He said: "It's like the musical gods just blessed us!"
The movie is one of a number Catherine - who is married to actor Michael Douglas - has in her schedule; she is also due to star in 'Playing the Field' and gambling movie 'Lay the Favorite'.
