Celebrities have paid tribute to Larry Hagman who died on Friday (23.11.12).

The 81-year-old actor - famed for playing 'Dallas' villain JR Ewing - passed away from ongoing complications in his battle with throat cancer and stars have taken to twitter to remember him.

Simon Cowell wrote: ''Very sad to hear about larry hagman. He was the best tv baddie and from people who met him all said he was a great guy. He will be missed (sic).''

Larry King added: ''#RIP Larry Hagman- he was a very special man - he helped me quit smoking & I'll always be grateful (sic).''

Larry's 'Dallas' co-stars and close friends Linda Gray and Patrick Duffy were present with his family during his last moments at Medical City Dallas Hospital and other co-stars past and present also spoke out about the loss.

His 'I Dream of Jeannie' co-star Barbara Eden said: ''I still cannot completely express the shock and impact from the news that Larry Hagman has passed...I can honestly say that we've lost not just a great actor, not just a television icon, but an element of pure Americana. Goodbye Larry, there was no one like you before and there will never be anyone like you again.''

Jesse Metcalfe - who co-starred with Larry on the 'Dallas' reboot added: ''It was truly an honour to share the screen with Mr. Larry Hagman. With piercing wit and undeniable charm he brought to life one of the most legendary television characters of all time. But to know the man, however briefly, was to know a passion and dedication for life and acting that was profoundly inspirational.''
