Reggae duo CHAKA DEMUS & PLIERS are suing record label bosses for more than $10 million (£6.7 million) in unpaid royalties and trademark infringement.
The Murder She Wrote hitmakers allege Universal Music Group executives "misappropriated and diverted" profits owed to the stars, reports Reuters.
The band claims they signed a contract with Universal-owned label Island Records, which gave them the rights to the trademark Chaka Demus and Pliers. They claim the firm "withheld the monies and royalties payments" since the deal was signed in 1992.
The suit was filed in New York under the artists' real names John Taylor (Chaka Demus) and Everton Bonner (Pliers).
Taylor and Bonner have also requested an injunction ordering Universal Music to stop the sale of their music.
