Chaka Khan has pulled out of plans to perform a Whitney Houston tribute at the Grammy Awards on Sunday (12Feb12).
The I'm Every Woman icon was set to honour her former back-up singer at the Los Angeles ceremony, but she took to Twitter.com hours before the event started to let fans know she felt awkward about a memorial performance the day after Houston's death.
She writes, "As I grieve the loss of my friend and 'little sister,' I don't feel it appropriate to perform at this time. Continue to pray for the family."
Producers have been working non-stop to organise a segment honouring Houston, who was found dead in the Beverly Hilton hotel on Saturday (11Feb12).
Jennifer Hudson, a lifelong fan of the late superstar, is reportedly still going ahead with plans to sing Houston's hit I Will Always Love You, but she was reportedly struggling to contain her emotions during rehearsals earlier on Sunday.
