Voice actor Peter Robbins avoided further jail time on Wednesday (08May13) as he was sent to rehab for stalking a former lover and her cosmetic surgeon.

The 56-year-old Peanuts star, who was the original voice of Charlie Brown on Tv, was sentenced to a year behind bars, but was then released to a drug treatment centre, where he will carry out the rest of his punishment.

Robbins, who has been in jail for four months already, will spend the next eight months in rehab receiving professional help for alcoholism and an addiction to prescription medication, but faces four years behind bars if he violates his probation.

Quoting the beloved kids' cartoon, Superior Court Judge Dwayne Morning told the former child star, "Don't be a blockhead."

According to the Associated Press, Robbins was placed on five years' probation and was also ordered to pay $15,000 (£9,700) in restitution to the doctor who performed a breast augmentation on his ex-girlfriend Shawna Kern.
