A judge in Charlie Sheen's $100 million lawsuit against Warner Bros has sent the case back to arbitration, all but ending Sheen's hopes of gaining a public trial. A California Superior Court Judge heard arguments from both sides before ordering Sheen, Warner Bros and 'Two and Half Men' creator Chuck Lorre to settle the case in arbitration, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Warner Bros fired Sheen from his $1.2 million per episode role on 'Two and a Half Men' in March, saying he had become unable to perform reliably. Sheen countered with the lawsuit, arguing he was able to perform adequately and that Warner Bros was violating his contract. The film company and Lorre were said to be pleased with the court's ruling, while Sheen's camp were hoping to square off in court. The actor's lawyer Martin Singer was optimistic the case would still avoid arbitration, saying Warner Bros are just delaying the inevitably, adding, "they are going to have to pay millions of dollars to my client". Sheen has publically criticised both the studio and Lorre for his acrimonious exit from America's biggest sitcom.
In May 2011, Charlie Sheen was replaced by the popular American actor Ashton Kutcher on 'Two and a Half Men'.
