Charlotte Church - Charlotte Church Furious Over Media Campaign Backlash
Former child star Charlotte Church was stunned at the criticism she received for her crusade against the British media, insisting an online witch-hunt made her "blood boil".
The Welsh singer has been one of the leading lights in a campaign for regulated standards in the U.K. press and she made a headline-grabbing appearance at the official Leveson Inquiry into media ethics last year (11).
Her evidence - in which she accused a publication of breaking the news of her first pregnancy before she had told her family - provoked a barrage of criticism from readers on the Internet, and Church insists she was astonished by the vitriol she received.
She tells British magazine The New Review, "They were saying that I was such a bad role model, that I should have my children taken off me. At the time, it made my blood boil.
"These people have no idea who I am, where I am coming from, how I raise my children, or how I live my life. So how dare they? Okay, fine, not everybody is going to like me, I accept that, but they were talking about me like I was this truly horrible person. It hurt."
