Pop icon Cher has offered to make a donation to help victims of recent wildfires in Colorado.
Thousands of residents were forced to flee their homes after flames broke out in the city of Colorado Springs over the weekend (23-24Jun12), destroying 346 homes and claiming one life.
The singer was devastated to learn of the blaze, which has yet to be contained, as it is now threatening to scorch the Air Force Academy where her nephew Ryan trained.
Taking to her Twitter.com page, Cher has promised to hand over money to help families rebuild their lives.
In a series of posts, she writes, "I will donate $ (money). It's (a) beautiful place (with) warm people! I've played there many times! Sad! Nephew went 2 Air Force Acad (Academy there). Ryan Southall, he's getting married...
"I'm sad about ppl w/ (people with) nowhere to go! Houses lost! I don't think I would (be) strong enough to start over w/ nothing (sic)."
