Cheryl Cole's boyfriend has given her mother an engraved necklace.

The 'Call My Name' singer's mum Joan had concerns when Cheryl started dating back-up dancer Tre Holloway and feared he would break her daughter's heart, but she has been won over after he presented her with a special cross and chain with the words ''To Mam Love Tre'' etched onto it.

''Mam'' is a reference to Joan and Cheryl's regional English accents.

The couple invited 50 of Cheryl's closest friends and family to celebrate the end of her 'A Million Lights' tour on Wednesday night (17.10.12), hitting Bar Livello in her hometown Newcastle upon Tyne and Joan joined them to party the night away.

Cheryl, 29, is delighted her new beau has been accepted by her mum - who she has often described as her ''rock'' - and friends and the night out was a big success for him becoming a part of her inner circle.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: ''Tre was happily chatting with Cheryl's friends and family. Although he was by Cheryl's side for most of the night, he was a big hit with everyone, he fitted right in.

''She looked so happy to let someone in like that, and the fact that he got on so well with all her family really means something to her.''

Tre is the Girls Aloud' star's first serious relationship since she split from her husband, soccer player Ashley Cole, in 2010.
