Rapper Chief Keef has been sentenced to 60 days behind bars for violating his probation.

The 17-year-old appeared in Cook County juvenile court in Illinois earlier this week (15Jan13) to face allegations he illegally fired a weapon during a video interview at a New York gun range last year (12), which went against the terms of probation on a 2011 firearms conviction.

The judge remanded him in custody and on Thursday (17Jan13) he was sent to a juvenile detention centre for 60 days. He will be given the right to appeal the ruling after 30 days behind bars.

The sentence means the hip-hop star will be forced to cancel his planned U.S. tour.
