Chloe Grace Moretz has revealed she was told she was 'too pretty' to play Carrie in the upcoming remake of the cult classic horror film, but won over producers to land the part.
Chloe Grace Moretz was ''too pretty'' to play Carrie.
The young actress will play the iconic character in the remake of Brian De Palma's 1976 film 'Carrie' - based on Stephen King's horror novel - but has revealed producers initially thought she was too attractive to play the socially outcast teenager who discovers she has telekinetic powers.
She revealed to Teen Vogue magazine: ''When I was auditioning for Carrie, I was told, 'Well, look, you're too young, you're too pretty, you're too accomplished.' ''
Despite the initial setback, the 16-year-old star was determined to land the part and convinced the film's makers to offer her the part.
She said: ''I love showing people I can do something that they might think I will never be able to do. Playing someone who's happy-go-lucky and has a good life and a nice family - it's boring for me.
''[Being happy is] my life. I have a good family. My mum loves me. I like being challenged; playing characters that are a little messed up.''
Chloe will be joined in the movie by Julianne Moore, who plays Carrie's god-fearing mother Margaret White.
The original 'Carrie' film starred Sissy Spacek as the titular character and Piper Laurie. Both actresses received Academy Award nominations in the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress fields, respectively.
'Carrie', directed by Kimberly Peirce, is due for release in October.
