R&B star Chris Brown has received high praise for his volunteer work at a domestic violence intervention program over the summer (12).
The Look at Me Now hitmaker and his mum Joyce Hawkins have been spending time with children at Los Angeles' Jenesse Center, a non-profit organisation which helps abuse victims.
On Wednesday (05Sep12), Brown also gave a talk to students at the unit's annual Back To School Fall Festival, where he handed out backpacks, pens and pencils.
Now Jenesse boss Karen Earl has heaped praise on Brown for giving back to the community.
In a statement, she says, "It is our focus on family violence and its impact on youth that compelled us to open our hearts and our doors to Chris Brown and his mother, Joyce Hawkins. Chris and his mom have spent many quiet hours at our facilities, no cameras, no special attention or entourages - they just came to learn. Jenesse is thankful to Chris for spending time with our youth and celebrating the end of summer and returning back to school."
Brown previously completed domestic violence counselling following the directions of a court judge after pleading guilty to assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.
