TV presenter Chris Tarrant has been arrested over claims a woman was assaulted at his home in Surrey.

The host of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? was detained at the property in Esher and questioned by officers at Staines police station but later released without charge, reports suggest.

A Surrey police spokesman is quoted by the Press Association as saying: "Police officers attended an address in Esher at 00:58 GMT on Thursday March 5th following reports of a domestic dispute.

"A man in his sixties was arrested on suspicion of assault and taken to Staines police station.

"He was later released without any further action being taken."

Two years ago, Tarrant was arrested after a member of the public claimed to have been injured in an Indian restaurant.

The 62-year-old was cautioned and released without charge.
