Christian Bale - Christian Bale Reflected On Batman Role
Christian Bale says ending filming for 'The Dark Knight Rises' was ''low-key'' and he took 20 minutes to ''reflect'' on his time as Batman afterwards.
Christian Bale spent 20 minutes in costume ''reflecting'' on his time as Batman when filming wrapped.
The 38-year-old actor is departing his role as the Caped Crusader and alter ego Bruce Wayne after three movies - 'Batman Begins', 'The Dark Knight' and 'The Dark Knight Rises' - and though his last day on set was ''low-key'', he found the time to look back over the period in his life in a ''meaningful'' moment alone.
He said: ''It was a fairly low-key affair.
''I don't like big goodbyes, so I said goodbye to everybody fairly quickly and then sat in the outfit and the cowl for a good 20 minutes just reflecting what it had meant to me through the years.
''I finally took them off, knowing I wouldn't be doing it again, and it was very meaningful.''
Although Christian admits the franchise could go on forever, he thinks director Christopher Nolan has picked the right time to end.
He added: ''There are so many possible stories that can be written. We could continue endlessly with this, but Chris has written a wonderful final chapter and this is the right time to say goodbye.''
Now, the 'Fighter' star is looking forward to working on much smaller productions.
He said: ''I want to make some smaller movies now. I'm looking at very different kinds of movies.''
