Christie Brinkley - Christie Brinkley Postpones 'Chicago' After Mother Falls Ill
Christie Brinkley, the American model who starred on the cover of three consecutive Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issues, has delayed her hotly anticipated West End debut after her mother fell ill. Christie Brinkley, the former wife is Billy Joel, is scheduled to star as 'Roxie Hart' in the hit musical Chicago, according to WhatsOnStage.com.
The 57-year-old supermodel learned her mother Majorie Hudson has been taken to hospital the evening she was scheduled to depart the U.S for the UK ahead of her first show on Monday (11th June 2011). Brinkley apologised to fans in a statement, saying, "I am very sorry for the inconvenience and changes to the schedule in London. I thank my producers and new cast mates for being so flexible and understanding and look forward to giving it my all in dedication to my loving, generous and supportive parents who set me on this Broadway adventure" Christie was reportedly said to be reluctant to join the 4-week run of Chicago given her mother and father are both suffering from health problems.
The actress Sarah Soataert, who currently plays Roxie in the London show, will continue in her role until Christie Brinkley arrives in the UK. The production also features Robbie Williams' close friend Jonathan Wilkes and the actress DEBBIE KURUP.
