Christopher Nolan has confirmed it is "inevitable" he will direct 'Batman 3'.

The 'Inception' director confirmed he would be involved in the movie - his third outing with the comic book character following 2005's 'Batman Begins' and 2008's 'The Dark Knight' - and claims he is "excited" about the process.

Speaking just after Sir Michael Caine - who plays butler Alfred - revealed he would likely be in the film, Christopher said: "It's become inevitable, I'll put it that way. I feel myself falling into it, I guess. And getting it all figured out and I'm pretty excited about what we're doing.

"If I haven't announced it, I think that people probably all know at this point that I'm doing it."

When asked by EmpireOnline if that means it can be assumed he will be heading up the project, he said: "I think you can at this point, yes."

Yesterday (29.09.10), Michael revealed the film was likely to begin shooting in May 2011.

He said: "There will be a new 'Batman'. It will probably start in May next year. I assume I'm there, but in the movie business you never believe anything, you assume.

"But I've been in the last four Chris Nolan pictures, he's my lucky charm. I did 'Prestige', and recently 'Inception', I'm hoping to do another one. He's written the new one."
