Whitney Houston's mother is urging her granddaughter Bobbi Kristina Brown to enrol in grief counselling to help her deal with the death of her superstar mum.

Just a day after the one-year anniversary of the I Will Always Love You legend's death, gospel great Cissy Houston went on U.S. Tv and called on the 19 year old to seek professional help as they continue to struggle with the huge loss.

Bobbi Kristina recently took aim at the veteran singer in a series of scathing messages on Twitter.com, in which she criticised her book Remembering Whitney by stating, "Anything concerning my grandmother's book, I... of course personally have nothing to do with... I haven't read (it) and won't... I find it to be disrespectful to my mother and me being her daughter won't tolerate it (sic)."

Cissy, who has endured a strained relationship with the teen, dismissed the attack during an appearance on daytime talk show The View on Tuesday (12Feb13), when she defended her memoir and said, "Whoever made anyone think I would write anything disrespect (sic) about my daughter, whom I loved so dearly... and I love Krissy (Bobbi Kristina) too. I think she's mourning and she needs to go to therapy."

The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg then commented, "She also needs to remember that you knew Whitney a lot longer", prompting Cissy to respond, "Ok (agreed), would you say that again (for emphasis)?".

Whitney Houston drowned in her hotel bathtub on 11 February, 2012, while getting ready for mentor Clive Davis' annual Grammy Awards eve party.
