Claire Danes can't wait to become a mother.

The 'Homeland' actress is expecting her first child with husband Hugh Dancy and she is excited about meeting her baby and is ''ready'' to have her life turned upside down.

She said: ''I'm excited about becoming a mum. It's abstract still; there's nothing much to do at this point but be healthy, incubate and take it as it comes, but I feel totally ready.''

In the run-up to giving birth, Claire - who is around eight months pregnant - says she will be making a lot of crafts as that's what she likes to do to relax.

She told Britain's InStyle magazine: ''I love crafts. My parents are artists, so I inherited that from them. I draw on a lot of T-shirts and bags and I love Christmas because I get to make stockings.''

While she is excited about becoming a mother, Claire also loves her job and feels spoilt to be playing Carrie Mathison in 'Homeland'.

She said: ''I feel spoilt working on 'Homeland'. It's unusual to find a character this sophisticated - specific, layered, flawed, heroic. She's a once-in-a-lifetime. I like her so much. I mean, she'd be tough to hang out with, but I admire her.''
