Australian rockers Cold Chisel returned to the stage Down Under on Thursday night (13Oct11) as they kicked off their first tour in 28 years.
In January (11), the bandmembers were devastated by the death of drummer Steve Prestwich, who passed away two days after undergoing emergency surgery on a brain tumour.
The tragedy reunited the group, who went back into the studio to work on new music with replacement percussionist Charley Drayton. They also made plans for a tour across Australia and New Zealand - their first since splitting in 1983.
The Light The Nitro Tour kicked off in Newcastle, Australia on Thursday and frontman Jimmy Barnes reveals the city is a special place for the band, as they spent a lot of time there in their early days.
He tells the Sydney Daily Telegraph, "There's some sentimental value here. (In the beginning) we'd come up here and fill houses and make enough money so we could keep living in the city. We had the best times here and the best audiences. They love to rock."
