Josh Holloway thinks he is a "comical" sex symbol.

The actor - who plays bad boy Sawyer in US drama series 'Lost' - admits his friends and family, including wife Yessica Kumala, find his pin-up status hilarious and love to mock him over his female fans.

He said: "To me, it's comical. Most people who know me think I'm pretty goofy. Sex symbol doesn't cross their mind. Hippie, yeah. Completely goofball. But sex symbol, not really. My wife laughs at that."

While the 40-year-old star is flattered that women find him attractive, he wishes he had received more attention when he was younger.

He joked: "I'm like 40 now, and they want me to take my shirt off. What happened when I was 25 and just naturally ripped? It takes a lot more work to stay in shape."

Josh - who got married in October 2004 and became a father for the first time last April when Yessica gave birth to their daughter Java - has also spoke about how much his life has changed since he first signed up to appear in 'Lost' six years ago and is amazed at the "phenomenal journey" he has been on.

He said: "What can I say? My God, I've had so many life-changing experiences since the show has begun. I've gotten married. I've got my first home. We have a beautiful baby daughter. I finally feel validated as an actor. It's just been quite a phenomenal journey."
